The de Rosset House is the crown jewel of both The Wilmingtonian and the city of Wilmington. It is one of the earliest residences, built pre civil war in 1841. Set high on a knoll overlooking the Cape Fear River, it was the home of Armand de Rosset and his family. A doctor by profession, but a merchant trader by choice, the house was the scene of much socializing by the gentry of the time. Additions were added to the rear of the house around the turn of the century, and a total renovation in 1998 returned the beautiful mansion to its former glory.

There are 6 luxurious period suites in the two upper floors of the house, all decorated and furnished appropriately for the period, but with such modern conveniences as large whirlpool tubs and separate showers. Atop the house is the cupola, which is the living room for our signature suite, the Cupola Suite. Sit high above the roof tops with a 360 degree view of the city and toast an unforgettable sunset over the Cape Fear River, before descending to the king fourposter bedroom. The de Rosset accommodations are reserved for adults only.

The Cupola Suite - Our "signature suite", and the most unique, designed with that special occasion in mind. Climb the spiral staircase to the sitting room in the cupola of the house. Enjoy a 360 degree view over the rooftops of the city. Relax with a drink and be enchanted by the romantic sunset over the Cape Fear River.

The Lillian Russell Suite - A lovely spacious suite with high ceilings and pocket doors. Rich burgundy tones, plush carpets in both rooms give this suite a feeling of the opulence of times gone by. At the front of the house, this suite enjoys views over the gardens and the Cape Fear River......

The George Bernard Shaw Suite - The tall ceilings and windows give a fine light to the burgundy and green tones of this full apartment suite. With a complete and separate kitchen, washer/dryer and king size four poster bed, this suite meets all the needs of the discerning traveler.

The Eugene O'Neill Suite - A spacious full apartment suite, decorated in light tones of soft green and rose, this suite features a king size sleigh bed and a view of the St. Thomas Preservation Hall, another unique and historic building of the same era ........

The Oscar Wilde Suite - Rich burgundy and deep blue give an old world charm to this corner suite. A queen size canopy bed is featured. Opening shutters by the Jacuzzi allow a view of the living room fire and TV to add to the romantic ambiance .........

The Henry Miller Suite - A warm and inviting suite with a pronounced southern feel. Magnolias float through the drapery fabrics, with pale yellow, beige and sage tones, with a king size four poster bed featured. Shutters over the whirlpool allow a view of the fire and TV from the tub, to create an unforgettable scene ......

Guests at the de Rosset House can enjoy the in house restaurant and bar, stroll through the terraced historic gardens, or relax, perhaps with a mint julep, in a rocker on the porch.

The de Rosset House is a smoke free environment.
